With food forests, we look at Nature’s systems and we copy them.
Food forests are natural ecosystems full of life and that look after themselves, just like a forest — but contain plants of our choosing.
When you hire Emily, you get expert help.
Emily will handle the design for you
Emily will examine, measure, and mark off the site as needed, finishing up by plotting out a planter's map.
Emily will supply the mulch
For each food forest project, we will supply cardboard or heavy paper for sheet mulching, arrange for the mulch delivery, and be there to help your volunteers spread in selected areas (must be accessible for delivery truck).
You just bring the wheelbarrows and shovels.
Emily will plant with you
She will supply all the plants, you supply the extra hands.
Along with your team, we will arrange and plant your food forest according to the plot map established in the design phase.
We suggest these 14 trees and shrubs. This is our basic, most low-maintenance starter food forest. Other plants can be substituted or added.
Each food forest installation costs $2,500.00, which includes a donor bench, seed library, all the plants, fences, mulch, compost, soil, layout and design, an expert labor leader, and even geocaching where possible.
